I was in the United States for the first time when I was just 7 years old. America is an attractive and seductive woman, different from the rest of the world. Its soul must nourish you, cradle you, invent a future full of novelties and maternal affection. Whatever you do here in the States, it becomes orgiastic, unsurpassable, divine and unrepeatable. When I arrived I saw those very tall skyscrapers, which I had never seen before, but small streets that led to the country houses, like our Moon Hill Road and my Aunt Annamaria's house. It was she who explained my first coin to me, the value of the currency, and for the first time I saw the JFK 1/2 dollar and all the power of that effigy ran through my body like a tear of incandescent metal. In a few moments my life had changed, as if something had lifted it forever. The entire political scenario of the moment in the USA is reflected in the similarity between my Aunt Annamaria Quagliata and Kamala Harris.
Kamala Harris has that useful and necessary charisma to make her ethic and concrete, beautiful and efficient. Kamala Harris is the voice of that seductive America that I met for the first time in the 70s, unique, irreplaceable and energetic. Donald Trump is an old dotage on my sunset, bloated with himself, egocentric, impossible to bear and light years away from the America that is the spokesperson for culture in the world, for innovations, for a multiracial society. Donald Trump is a white racist sovereign billionaire in the worst possible sense. There is no future with him, for those many elements that mix together and originate the beauty of this wild American prairie. Kamala Harris is now the true protagonist of the stage of these next elections and I must say that she shines with the light of a midnight sun after months and months of the shaky silhouette of the elderly Joe Biden. Each of us will sooner or later have to surrender to the face of old age and give way to the brutal scream of what is happening and transforming. Kamala Harris will be the first black American woman to ascend to the seat of President of the United States and all together we will grow and flaunt this new banner as if it were something that we too have helped to create. To Kamala Harris and my aunt Alessandra Quagliata I send a big greeting and I hold them in my heart.These are just the first reasons why I believe Kamala Harris will defeat Donald Trump, but then we must list the others such as the determination of the woman who has been able to stay in the shadow and hidden for all these years from President Joe Biden. How she supported him, embraced him and pushed him in the right direction. Kamala Harris has very clear ideas on the conflict between Israel and Palestine and perhaps even more incisive towards Vladimir Putin. Kamala Harris has already marked around her the actions she will have to take to face the challenges that await her.
