US forces raise alert level at bases in Europe, the alert scale is therefore moving from Bravo to Charlie

New York 1 July by Patty Smith

Due to a combination of factors that could impact the safety and security of U.S. military personnel and their families stationed in Europe, U.S. Forces Europe Command is raising its alertness level during the summer months.

The alert scale is therefore moving from Bravo to Charlie.

This is the content of the note released today to all US military bases in Italy and Europe.

According to CNN, citing two American officials, several US military bases in Europe were placed on high alert over the weekend for fear of a terrorist attack against US military personnel or facilities. The bases, including the US Army garrison in Stuttgart, Germany, where the US European Command is based, raised the alert level to the "Charlie" protection condition. The note emphasizes that in collaboration with host nations, allies and partners, and through a comparison between the various realities of the sector, the US Forces Europe Command (USEUCOM) constantly monitors the level of security to safeguard the safety of its soldiers and their families and loved ones. USEUCOM highlights the importance of a cohesive community made up of informed personnel who know, in the event of suspicious activity, who to report information to and how to avoid danger.
