L'America è disseminata di fanatici e organizzazioni che a diverso titolo ambirebbero a colpire il Presidente nero e le minacce contro l'uomo di Chicago sono migliaia.La macchina della sicurezza è spaventosa e tenuta in allerta da un lavoro di monitoraggio continuo.I motivi di allarme si moltiplicano, ma nessuno è in grado di garantire la certezza assoluta per la sua incolumità.Obama lo sà,è cosciente e vivo in lui il pericolo di una morte violenta,improvvisa,dettata dal colpo di un fanatico o al piano ordito da qualche organizzazione di estremisti.
Quella di Barack Obama è una corsa contro il tempo,una corsa dentro la storia che lo condurrà direttamente al 20 Gennaio 2009,il giorno in cui un uomo di colore varcherà le soglie della Casa Bianca da padrone indiscusso,di quella casa e del mondo.E forse questa straordinaria forza che incarna il Presidente degli Stati Uniti è il vero motivo ideale per chiunque voglia colpirlo.Sono questi giorni in cui essere Presidente è come non essere nulla,anche se la macchina mediatica lo segue passo passo,Barack Obama non sarà ancora nessuno fino a quel momento perchè è il "sagrato" della Casa Bianca l'elemento simbolico della sua vittoria,la Porta che si aprirà davanti a lui,il cuore di duecento anni di storia e di tradizione di Presidenti bianchi.
Chi odia le innovazioni,chi odia i neri,quella parte dell'America antica che non si abitua a nessun cambiamento,non rimarrà inerte.E' questione di giorni ,ma qualcuno tenterà di uccidere Barack Obama.Chi volesse portare ancora caos e scompiglio non soltanto sui mercati finanziari,ma colpire l'economia americana nelle sue viscere,ha interesse ad uccidere Obama.Chi volesse aggiungere tensione in un momento delicato,avrebbe interesse di uccidere Obama.Chi vuole isolare l'America ha interesse ad uccidere Obama.Chi non vuole che le relazioni con i paesei arabi si normalizzino,ha interesse ad uccidere Obama.Chi ha interesse che i fanatici islamici non rimangano isolati,ha interesse ad uccidere Obama.

The dramatic increase in security around Barack Obama since the election has made a sizable impact in the Loop, where the president-elect is running his transition office at the Kluczynski Federal Building, straining an already-stretched Chicago police force and city budget.

"Right now the situation (working with Secret Service) is very fluid," Weis said at a community policing event. "No officers will be taken out of their districts or taken off the streets."
"Beginning next week, we're going to be using some administrative officers and some from the training academy to work security detail. We just graduated 75 new officers, which we can use," Weis added. "We don't want to take any officers off the street."
The Chicago Police Department's Fraternal Order of Police, the union that represents police officers, has been told that in addition to the dozens of officers detailed to the perimeter near Obama's home, about 60 officers are being temporarily assigned to protect the transition headquarters.
The police coverage is around-the-clock, with about 25 officers, essentially one from each district, assigned on two watches, and 10 officers and a sergeant assigned to a third watch, said FOP President Mark Donahue. The union has been told the detail is temporary, only until the incoming administration heads to Washington on Jan. 20.
Some involved in the complex security efforts said they understand city leaders have grown concerned about the potential cost of the extra manpower. Daley has proposed laying off almost 1,000 city workers and raising taxes and fees to close a $469 million budget shortfall, which he has described as the worse fiscal situation in his 19 years in office. Now the city will have to foot the security bill, at least upfront, and hope it will be reimbursed.
Daley's spokeswoman, Jacquelyn Heard, said the city is working with the Illinois congressional delegation to recoup costs.
Said Weis: "It's a big job protecting the president elect and secret service can't do it alone. They need the help of the Chicago Police Department."
The city's budget office said it did not have totals for what the city has spent on security. But the police details will undoubtedly weigh on the police force at a time of increased violent crime. Police have complained for months about understaffing in districts, which are supposed to have about 8,000 patrol officers at full strength, and city officials have said they don't have the money to make up for attrition.
"The lack of manpower, especially in district law enforcement, is a constant concern," Donahue said. "[This detail] stretches the troops even further."
This week, security was ratcheted up as Obama held talks with potential administration officials. At times, a dozen squad cars marked with Federal Protective Service Police insignias lined Jackson and Dearborn Streets around the building. Chicago police officers stood in pairs at many corners surveying the scene, which some have taken to calling "the Obama drama."
The security perimeter of the Kluczynski building has been extended, with a fence that reaches out into the federal plaza and fronts the low-rise post office building next door.
